In South Asia Mountain Environments has worked mainly in the Himalayas where there is a huge range of environmental issues. Climate change is affecting many of the Himalayan rivers with the glacial retreat reducing the dry season river flows, deforestation has resulted in widespread soil losses and numerous landslides, increased sediment loads in the rivers silts up reservoirs and intensive agriculture causes soil losses and water pollution.
