The Balkan people and its environment have suffered from the recent conflicts and there is an urgent need to provide tools, training and long term support for the region. Mountain Environments worked in Kosovo rebuilding the river and climate monitoring networks. This has led onto other environmental work including the rehabilitation of the river system, construction of landfill sites and the stabilisation of old mine tailings dams. Kosovo cannot be rebuilt in a few yeas and it will take a long term commitment to support all of the Balkan countries.
